The Aborigines are the indigenous people of Australia. Their history is the longest documented history of any people on the planet. Thought to have inhabited Australia as far back as 60,000 years ago, the Aborigines are truly unique.

Tracing the lineage of the Aboriginal Tribes, historians and anthropologists have traced their lineage back to south-east Asia between 40,000 and 60,000 years ago. At that time, it is thought that Australia was easily accessible from this area of the world.

Due to its separation from the Asian continent, Australia was not subjected to the same type of events from the last ice age as other areas of the world. This separation has allowed the Aborigines to survive and thrive when other cultures have vanished.

Aborigines trace their lineage back to 500 distinct tribes, all of which were semi-nomadic and hunters and gatherers. It is the belief of many researchers that their quest for food and fresh water is what originally brought them to the Australian continent.

Considered the indigenous peoples of Australia, the Aborigines have populated the mainland area of Australia and the offshore island of Tasmania. The origin of the Aborigines has been a topic of debate for decades. Recent DNA studies have shown evidence that the originals came from a split between European and Asian ancestry several thousand years ago. Aborigines are believed to have maintained their population in longer than any other ethnic group in world history.

The Aborigines believe that ancestors, man, and nature are all connected by a larger force. They also believe that the Earth is something that is eternal.Additional information can be found at http://lateralloveaustralia.com/2013/03/06/australias-aboriginal-children-the-worlds-highest-suicide-rate/. It is also of great Aboriginal belief that all of these connecting bodies can be accessed through an alternate state of thought and through dreams. Purposeful or ritualized scarring is a way Aborigines carry of the stories and legends of tribal status, religious beliefs, or events in ones life.

On average, the Aborigines have grown in population by about 2.2% per year annually. As of 2006, there were over 500,000 Aborigine people in Australia. If the average population growth rate continues as the same pace, by 2020, there will be over 700,000 Aborigines on the continent of Australia.

You might have heard about the Aboriginal Australians but unless you take the time to truly understand their culture and the impact the settlers had on their society, you really don’t know what it means to be an Aboriginal Australian. That is why we wrote this quick little article in hopes of educating anyone interested on the rich and turbulent history of a proud people. So finish up what you’re currently doing, turn off the TV, save whatever you were researching regarding debt settlement service or the like and get ready to go down under.

The Aborigines were the first people in Australia, the indigenous people. Unfortunately, much like the Native Americans of the United States, they too were powerless to defend themselves against the modern world as it came encroaching upon their lives. Though initially created as a prison colony, Australia soon thrived and flourished, and the plight that faced the Aborigines was one of savage prejudice and nothing short of attempted genocide. The Aborigines were enslaved, many killed and many of their children were taken to re-education centers where Christianity was forced upon them.

Nowadays, there are still Aborigines in Australia but their presence is nearly invisible. Though recognized, they are still not given the respect they deserve or the necessary reparations for their ancestors’ plight. However, if you look close enough, you can still see signs of the Aborigine culture alive and well.

The Aborigines are the original native inhabitants of Australia. Their very strong belief system is based on the concept of “Dreamtime.” In Aboriginal beliefs dreaming is the story of creation. In this belief “the ancestors” are mythic beings that most commonly appear as serpents. Some of the primary ancestors inclue the Rainbow Serpent whic is a major ancestral being as well well Baiame the Creator and Sky God and Bunjil the eagle also a Creator God. While each Aboriginal group will have varying belief structures in the Dreamtime concept the basic background seems to stay the same.
Aborigines also have a strong belief and respect in the land around them. They consider the land the ultimate provider. each Aborigine group has a land territory which they feel they belong to. They live off the land and are excellent hunters and trackers.
While many Aborigines have begun to embrace the non-traditional ways others still continue to live in their tribes and follow the beliefs of the original ancestors. There are still approximately 200 Aboriginal groups or tribes living throughout Australia, the largest of them is the Pitjantjatjara tribe who live in the area around Ayers Rock and continue to follow the Dreamtime as it has always been.

With an overabundance of modern technologies, it is difficult to imagine a world in which cell phones, computers and other modern advances simply do not exist. Many of us, like it or not, could never survive without the basic technological advances in which we have relied upon for years. Because of this, we have become ever the pessimists in believing why groups of individuals, such as the Aborigines and indigenous peoples of the jungle, remain so secluded from the world, its people and its superior cache of technologies.

As a people, the Aborigines have survived, for decades, free from the advances of modern man. They hunt, farm, fish and pillage for their very survival, living simply, as our ancestors had for centuries. In order to exist, peacefully, with the rest of mankind, they have remained out of direct confrontation. Though many recorded instances have arisen in which modern man has, for scientific purposes, attempted to break through and contact the remote tribes, their seclusion has remained an unbroken barrier. For these people, the continuation of their simplified way of living, and their survival as a whole, is dependent on the self-control of modern man to refrain from curiously interrupting their livelihood.

Australian culture is still going strong today. The Aborigines practice many customs now as they did in the past and will do in the future. There are hundreds of tribes in Australia and they all offer special and diverse beliefs. Ceremonies are held to celebrate important events such as a Bora, where young boys become men. They also have smoking ceremonies or cleaning rituals on special occasions.

The Aborigines believe in showing respect and spirituality towards the land and also what they call Dreamtime. The Rainbow Serpent is an important ancestral being for the Aborigines. Baiame is thought to be the Creator. They have other important spiritual ancestors as well.

One interesting fact about the Aborigines and music is that they may have made one of the first wind instruments ever. It is called the didgeridoo and is claimed to be one of the oldest if not the oldest wind instruments around in history. This instrument is the National instrument of Australian Aborigines. Clapping sticks are another popular Aborigines instrument choice.

Aborigines offer unique customs and cultures that should be looked upon with respect. These people have an interesting view of the past, present, and future. It is all connected.

Australia is a vast country with a rich history in art, spirituality, industry and war. The country has a fascinating culture, such as the Aborigines, which you will learn about in this article. Once your finished reading, you will have a bigger perspective on the culture of Australia.

Aborigine Art

Aborigine art is older than any other form of art in the world. The Aborigines are known for their cave drawings, which depict strange beings and craft floating in the sky. Some experts claim that these depictions are ancient extraterrestials, but this a subject that is open for debate.

Aborigine Tribes

The Aborigine were abundant in Australia before the British arrived. There were many recorded tribes, such as the Tiwi, Goomkoding, Lismore, and Kamilaroi. Due to the Tribes dependence on water, they developed an ability called dowsing, which allowed them to locate it.

The Aborigines are an interesting race that we all can learn from. The tribes are highly respected because they are resourceful, perseverant and artistic. It was very unfortunate for them to suffer oppression by the British, but hopefully their culture and ways can still flourish. Do more research on this group and learn some beneficial value systems.
