Plight of the Aborigines
You might have heard about the Aboriginal Australians but unless you take the time to truly understand their culture and the impact the settlers had on their society, you really don’t know what it means to be an Aboriginal Australian. That is why we wrote this quick little article in hopes of educating anyone interested on the rich and turbulent history of a proud people. So finish up what you’re currently doing, turn off the TV, save whatever you were researching regarding debt settlement service or the like and get ready to go down under.
The Aborigines were the first people in Australia, the indigenous people. Unfortunately, much like the Native Americans of the United States, they too were powerless to defend themselves against the modern world as it came encroaching upon their lives. Though initially created as a prison colony, Australia soon thrived and flourished, and the plight that faced the Aborigines was one of savage prejudice and nothing short of attempted genocide. The Aborigines were enslaved, many killed and many of their children were taken to re-education centers where Christianity was forced upon them.
Nowadays, there are still Aborigines in Australia but their presence is nearly invisible. Though recognized, they are still not given the respect they deserve or the necessary reparations for their ancestors’ plight. However, if you look close enough, you can still see signs of the Aborigine culture alive and well.
What beliefs do the aborigines have?
The Aborigines are the original native inhabitants of Australia. Their very strong belief system is based on the concept of “Dreamtime.” In Aboriginal beliefs dreaming is the story of creation. In this belief “the ancestors” are mythic beings that most commonly appear as serpents. Some of the primary ancestors inclue the Rainbow Serpent whic is a major ancestral being as well well Baiame the Creator and Sky God and Bunjil the eagle also a Creator God. How can modern culture adapt with aborigines?
With an overabundance of modern technologies, it is difficult to imagine a world in which cell phones, computers and other modern advances simply do not exist. Many of us, like it or not, could never survive without the basic technological advances in which we have relied upon for years. Because of this, we have become ever the pessimists in believing why groups of individuals, such as the Aborigines and indigenous peoples of the jungle, remain so secluded from the world, its people and its superior cache of technologies.

Beyond the past, present, and future in Australian culture.
Australian culture is still going strong today. The Aborigines practice many customs now as they did in the past and will do in the future. There are hundreds of tribes in Australia and they all offer special and diverse beliefs. Ceremonies are held to celebrate important events such as a Bora, where young boys become men. They also have smoking ceremonies or cleaning rituals on special occasions.
